Kainchi Dham a shrine Dedicated to Neem Karoli baba which is placed at an altitude of 1400 meters. Kainchi means two hairpin bends on the road. It is to be noted that Kainchi does not have any relation with scissors.

Brief History Of Kainchi Dham:

Kainchi Dham was founded by Neem Karoli Baba in, 1962 but the concept of the temple came into existence from 1942 when Maharaj Neem Karoli with his instructor Poornanand of Kainchi Village built an ashram here and dedicated to Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba who used to perform Yoga and does Dhyan there. 

After getting proper permission from the forest conservatives and the Government there devoted and temple to Lord Hanuman disciple of Lord Shree Ram Chand and the rest of the area was used as the Ashram and a place where Sadhus can live and perform their Yoga and remember god.

After the establishment of the temple, many peoples started visiting the temples, and many Bhandaras, Kritan- Bhajan was organized in the shrine.

The cave beside the temple is considered as the place where Maharaj Ji used to sit in Dhyan for a long time.

Usually, every year on 15 June thousands of people visit Kainchi because 15 June is considered to be the establishment day for the Kainchi .

On this day, thousands of people are feed there and a Bhandara is conducted every year in which devotees come to take Prasad.

A huge traffic Jam is seen on the day due to which people have to face many difficulties while passing Kainchi Dham.

Steve Jobs once visited Kainchi Dham and was inspired to found Apple. He had mentioned that he got and motivation and was highly inspired by the lessons of Maharaj Ji.

As mentioned above a yearly fair on 15 June is conducted on the occasion of the establishment of Kainchi Dham. Devotees can stay in the Ashram for a maximum of 3 days. 

Things to See:

  • Kainchi Dham consists of a shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
  • A small cave where Maharaj Ji used to sit.
  • The shrine is at the river bank which makes the place more beautiful.
  • A Kalash containing ashes of Maharaji is kept inside the Ashram.

Hotels Nearby Kainchi Dham:

There are several hotels and small roadside stands where one can have a tasty meal of theirs. People usually eat Pakodas and Tea(Chai) from the hotels next to the shrine.

One can stay in the Ashram if he/she is not interested in staying there so they can find hotel rooms in the small market of Kainchi.

How to Reach Kainchi Dham:

The nearest Railway station is at Kathogodam, Haldwani which is somewhat 36.9km away from Kainchi. 

The nearest airport is at Pantnagar 71.3 km away from Kainchi .

One can easily reach Kainchi by Roadways Buses of Uttrakhand Government.

The nearest Landmark is Bhowali which is somewhat 9km from Kainchi Dham.

One can Visit Nainital on the way to Kainchi .
