Cricket is a game played between 2 teams having 11 players each on a field at the center of which is a 20m(22yard) pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising 3 stumps and above them 2 bails. It is played with a bat and a ball. 
The cricket bat is made from willow wood. The length of the bat may not be more than 38 inches(965mm) and width no more than 4.25 inches(108mm). The weight of the bat is between 1.2 to 1.5kg.
The hard and solid ball is used to play cricket. In cricket ball, a cork is covered by leather. White balls are used in ODI and T20 and test cricket red balls are used.
The weight of the ball depends on the gender or age of the player. Men and boys above 13 are using 156 to 163g and women and girls above 13 are using 140 to 151g cricket balls. Children under 13 are using 133 to 143g balls.
The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at the wicket with the bat, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this and dismiss each player means of dismissal include being bowled when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the nails,
and by the fielding side catching the ball after it is hit by the bat. When 10 players of the batting side have been dismissed, the innings ends and team swap roles. If the other team scored more runs then they win the match and the match is over.The game is adjudicated by 2 umpires aided by a third umpire and match referee in international matches.
Different Formats of matches:
There are various formats in cricket, with 3 of them being played at the international level between countries. The 3 formats are namely T20, test, and ODIs which is played over a few hours with each team batting for a single inning of 20 overs, to Test matches, played over five days with unlimited overs and the teams each batting for 2 innings of unlimited length. 
Traditionally, cricketers play in all-white kits, but in limited-overs cricket, they wear club or team colors. In addition to the basic kit, some players wear protective gear to prevent injury caused by the ball.
A Brief History:
Cricket was found in south-east England in the middle of the 16th century. It spread globally with the expansion of the British Empire, and the first international match was played in the 19th century which started the beginning of this massive game.

The Ashes
It is one of the most-watched and series nowadays, played between Australia and England. Ashes traditionally a five-test series organized by England. However, the administrator is ICC which organizes it once in two years.
This series was started in 1882-83 including the participation of only two teams. The total number of series till now is 71 Australia is holding the most wins, 33 series wherever 32 wins by England with 6 series end to draw.
